Your rights if detained or arrested

Rights of minors (if you are under 18)

No minor or adult is required to make a statement of any kind (oral or written).

If you are under 18 and you do choose to make a statement, you have the right to a reasonable opportunity to speak to your parent, guardian, or if they are not available, another adult.

If you are a minor, you also have the right to be accompanied by your lawyer, your parent or guardian (or if they are not available, another adult) while the police question you.
